📍 FindMyPeanut is a community lost & found network for pets.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly:

Account information — email address when you sign in via magic link or Google OAuth
Pet reports — pet description, photos, and last known location you submit
Sightings — location, time, and photos when you report seeing a pet
Profile information — optional display name and contact preferences

We also collect limited technical information automatically:

Device type and operating system version
App usage patterns to improve the service
Approximate location (only when you grant permission)

2. How We Use Your Information

To display lost and found pet reports on the community map
To send notifications when someone spots your pet or reports one near you
To match lost pets with found pet reports and nearby sightings
To verify shelter and rescue organization accounts
To improve app performance and fix bugs

3. Location Data

Location is used only to show nearby reports and to attach a location to sightings you submit. We apply coordinate fuzzing (~100 meters) to all public report locations to protect the privacy of pet owners. Exact coordinates are never shown publicly.

We do not track your location in the background. Location is only accessed when you actively use the app.

4. Anonymous Reporting

You can submit lost or found pet reports without creating an account. Anonymous reports are stored without any personally identifiable information. If you later create an account, you may claim your anonymous reports.

5. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited circumstances:

Publicly — pet reports and sightings are visible to other users to help find pets
Service providers — we use Supabase for database and authentication, and Stadia Maps for mapping. These providers process data only as necessary to provide their services.
Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect the safety of users

6. Data Retention

Pet reports remain active until you mark them resolved or delete them. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings page in the app.

7. Children's Privacy

FindMyPeanut is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level security on our database, and secure authentication. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

9. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion feature in the app.

Terms of Service

📋 By using FindMyPeanut, you agree to these terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading or using FindMyPeanut, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Use of the Service

FindMyPeanut is a community platform for reporting and finding lost pets. You agree to:

Provide accurate information in your reports
Only post reports for genuine lost or found pets
Not use the service for any illegal or harmful purpose
Not post false, misleading, or spam reports
Treat other community members with respect

3. User Content

You retain ownership of photos and descriptions you submit. By posting content, you grant FindMyPeanut a non-exclusive license to display that content to other users for the purpose of helping find lost pets.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share any photos you upload.

4. Prohibited Conduct

Posting false reports or deliberately misleading information
Harassing, threatening, or abusing other users
Attempting to access other users' accounts or data
Using the service to facilitate animal cruelty or theft
Scraping or automated access to the service

5. Disclaimers

FindMyPeanut is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that using our service will result in finding a lost pet. We are not responsible for the accuracy of user-submitted reports.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FindMyPeanut shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

7. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page.

8. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States.

Delete Your Account

🗑️ You can delete your FindMyPeanut account at any time.

We're sorry to see you go. You can delete your account and all associated data directly from the app, or by contacting us.

Delete from the app

Open the FindMyPeanut app and sign in

Tap the Profile icon in the top navigation bar

Tap Settings

Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account

Confirm deletion — your account will be permanently removed

Delete by email

If you're unable to access the app, email us at findmypeanutapp@gmail.com with the subject line "Delete Account" and include the email address associated with your account. We will process your request within 30 days.

What gets deleted

Your account and profile information
Your email address and authentication data
Your device tokens and notification preferences
Your personal contact information

What may be retained

Pet reports you submitted may remain visible on the map in anonymized form to continue helping the community find pets. You can delete individual reports before deleting your account.
Aggregate, non-identifiable usage data for app improvement

Retention period

Account deletion is processed immediately. Any retained anonymized data is purged within 30 days.
